The Geer Family

So much to say about my husband today!  Ed spent last Sunday putting together Christopher's crib.  Thanks to my mom & dad we go a beautiful converter crib and a soothing vibration mattress that arrived last week.  Ed was so excited to put it together that he didn't even change out of his church clothes!  My mom had told me that every couple has to go through the trauma of putting the crib together as a couple and enduring arguments so we were prepared.  I tried to help as much as I could but Ed would only let me do so much so I basically just sat, watched and handed him pieces.

But it was very painless to put together and it looks beautiful!  TJ helped us finish it off by putting on the linens.

All with no arguing necessary!

TJ and the NC Gaters had the annual Pool Play AAU basketball tournament in Charlotte this weekend.  All teams that wish to play in the State Championship must participate in this tournamnet and they are seeded for the State's based on how they finish during Pool Play.  Ed is an assistant coach and has enjoyed working with the kids all season so far.  This weekend, the head coach had to be out of town and the other assistant had a wife that went in to labor so it was all left up to Ed.  He made his solo coaching debut and he was great!  Game 1 went in to overtime and half the team fouled out (including TJ) so Ed coached the 4 (yes, I said 4) remaining players to an OT victory.  Quite a crowd had gathered around the court so it was a very exciting win.  The look on the kids' faces was priceless.  Ed coached the team to a come from behind victory in Game 2 and they won by 4.  Those last 4 points were scored in about the last minute of the game.  Another thriller that had the kids and Ed jumping on each other in the middle of the court.  I keep the stats for the team so I was on the bench trying my hardest not to have the baby on the sidelines from the rush and high blood pressure, lol!

It was a gret weekend for Ed and the kids and I am very proud of him.  He has declared himself retired as head coach at 2-0 with a winning record!

Sorry it's been so long since I've last written.  We have been very busy with AAU basketball with travelling tournaments almost every weekend and I have been working 3 days a week in Chapel Hill at my friend Amanda's new salon.  TJ had a tournament this past weeken in Morrisville and they went undefeated and won the tournament for the 8 & under division.  This kids were very excited and played very well!  TJ had a lot of supporters come and watch him.  Ed's parents came to see him play for the very first time.  My mom, Laura,Patrice & Chris all came to see him.  He was so excited that everyone was there.  We went out to eat with Laura after the 3rd game on Saturday night and he was so tired that he fell asleep in her lap in the restaurant!

We had an appointment on Monday and an ultrasound yesterday and everything seems to be going well so far.  I am 32 weeks and 3 days along now, which means that my belly should be measuring 32cm from the bottom of my uterus to the top.  On Monday I measured 34.5cm so I am a little ahead of schedule but they assured me this was okay.  I have gained a total of 22lbs during the entire pregnancy.  Not too bad....

I have been getting some pretty bad headaches lately which are causing me to be even more tired than usual and they seem to be located mainly behind my left eye.  The doctor checked it out and told me the only time they really worry about headaches is when the patients blood pressure is high.  Since my bp is normal, he just told me to keep taking regular Tylenol.  I also have a "hot spot" located on the upper right side of my belly, right below my ribs.  It feels as though I have burnt myself there and is very tender to the touch.  This is where the baby's hands and feet are constantly kicking me so he seems to have hit a nerve which causes the burning sensation.  This is very common and nothing to worry about.  It's only on the surface and the doctor told me to put a cool compress on it if it really starts to bother me.

At our ultrasound appointment yesterday we were told that the average fetus size for a 32 week old baby is between 4-4.5lbs.  Apparently, Christopher already weighs 5.3lbs!!!  We didn't get too many good pictures of him this time because he was hiding behind my uterine wall but I do know that he has fat cheeks, just like me.  The kind that everyone will want to squeeze.  I think he has Ed's nose but Ed swears he looks just like me so we'll see!

7.5 weeks left to go!
